CentraleSupélec

CentraleSupélec is an internationally-reputed Higher Education and Research Institution. Its excellence lies in its combination of fundamental and applied sciences for innovation with societal impact. For almost two centuries, CentraleSupélec’s top engineers have been practicing their skills and knowledge for the development of corporate institutions and public organizations. Eco-mobility involves all mobility solutions and encompasses every type of transport – individual and shared, public or private –that contributes to providing a positive response to sustainable development issues. These new mobilities need to be analyzed with a multi-disciplinary approach, fitting into a context of prospective and disruptive innovation. Research approaches include engineering, economics and social sciences, and employ tools to design and model socio-technical mobility systems. The models developed attempt to understand and satisfy stakeholders’ mobility requirements and identify the different action levers available to mobility suppliers while reducing the environmental and social impacts of the suggested solutions. In more detail, the themes tackled by our research are the following:

  • Electro-mobility economy: The changing behavior patterns of mobility users call for new services. By analyzing what determines their mobility requirements, we can model user behaviors. But, it is necessary to study the regulatory facilitators and barriers for our studied model of mobility. A model public and private builds in the cities that we chose and my role would be to study and to value these experiences. As member of the French Parliamentary Commission on the mobility, I suggest developing recommendations for public authorities.
  • Disruptive innovation and the new “eco-mobility” system: New mobilities are analogous to disruptive innovations that challenge the entire value chain of the “eco-mobility” ecosystem. Technico-economic analysis allows us to identify the different action levers available to new players in terms of innovation and value creation.
  • Human centered innovation for novel mobility services: a traveler-centered model of the urban mobility system is used to capture the diversity of issues in urban mobility experiences in a need-seeker mode. We will be using this approach to contribute to the definition of the passenger needs and requirements as well as the use cases for the demonstrators.
